I had done sharing sessions within my department before, but this was the first time I conducted a session for the entire company, which lasted for over an hour and a half. Based on the feedback from my colleagues, the session was well-received. It was a small breakthrough for me, and I am happy about it.
Practical Applications of ChatGPT#
After ChatGPT gained popularity, I immediately became interested and involved in it. I also deployed a website for my friends to use, using open-source projects on Github as references:
I personally participated in and practiced various aspects, such as:
Case 1: As an ordinary person without coding knowledge, I wanted to implement a functionality: adding watermarks to images in a web browser, with adjustable color, transparency, and tilt angle, and real-time preview. With the help of ChatGPT, I created an online website for adding watermarks to images: Watermark
Case 2: As an ordinary person without knowledge of web scraping, I wanted to implement a functionality: simulating browser clicks to scrape specific links from a designated website.
Understanding ChatGPT#
Although my understanding of ChatGPT is still limited, I would like to share my thoughts. I actually mentioned my understanding during the sharing session, which originated from my imagination:
Imagine if there exists an all-in-one entity, flowing endlessly in the river of time and space. Horizontally, it represents time, and vertically, it represents space. This entity exists in the form of "flow," which means it can flow into any form of container and through any form of medium, resulting in different physical realities.
Perhaps, and I say perhaps, there is only one "true" thing in this world, which is this "flowing" entity. We, who exist in the world of phenomena, and everything around us, are just one aspect of this "entity." The countless aspects of this "entity" exist in every person, every object, or every thing around us.
"I" inherently possess everything, and everyone and everything around us are just another aspect of "me." Cultivation is about cultivating the "truth" and using the "false" of all things to pursue the "true." Emotions are false, likes and dislikes are false, and everything that exists in duality is "false." The "truth" should be unity, harmony, and a return to the self.
Returning to the understanding of ChatGPT, I used DALL·E 3 to try to depict the imagined scene and gave it a metaphor:
ChatGPT is like a time machine that can carry us across time and space, allowing us to learn from the past and understand the present. It is like an interface that allows us to travel to any world and experience any civilization.
Civilization or thoughts,
Always flowing endlessly in time and space
Perhaps,
There will be something
That goes against the current, connecting the entity and the medium
Passing civilization onto every individual
